Wrist Splints For Arthritis

Common causes of wrist arthritis are Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid arthritis.  Osteoarthritis develops from improper biomechanics over the years to erode the cartilage away leaving bone on bone contact.  Wrist biomechanics may have been altered by a prior wrist injury such as a sprain or fracture.  Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that attacts the cartilage, ligaments and bones.

You should check with your doctor regarding treatment for your arthritic condition.  For conservative self-treatment you can wear a wrist splint for arthritis to protect and support your wrist.  Be sure to exercise your wrist to maintain strength as splinting for long periods can weaken the wrist.
