Also known as Cubital Tunnel Syndrome, Ulnar Nerve Compression occurs when the ulnar nerve (the ″funny bone″), which travels between the tip of the elbow and the inner elbow bone, is pinched by body tissues after injury.
Symptoms include pain and weakness in the hand and forearm, numbness in the ring and little finger, and a decrease in hand dexterity. It is recommended that a splint be worn on the elbow (especially at night) to protect the ulnar nerve from unwanted contact and to use cold therapy to help soothe pain. Consult with a physician about surgery in severe cases and before using any anti-flammatory medications.
