Rib Belts For Rib Pain

Rib Belts Provide Compression And Stability To Painful Ribs

Causes of rib pain are many, but the most common causes are lung conditions such as pleurisy or pneumonia, cancer or infection, and traumatic events such as a rib sprain or strain or bone fracture.  You should always check with your doctor to rule out the more severe causes prior to self-treating.
Strains, strains and fractures of ribs can be caused by twisting actions of the trunk of the body that take the muscles, tendons or ligaments past their capabilities.  Blunt trauma can fracture or break a rib such as a blow to the ribs in sports.  Rib injuries can also occur from simple trauma such as coughing hard whlie sick.  Once you have been evaluated by your doctor, you might wear a rib belt, also known as rib supports, rib braces or rib wraps, to help compress the rib cage resulting in a feeling of security and relief of pain symptoms. Rib braces are usually made of elastic materials to provide comfortable compression.  Rib belts can be worn under clothing, but commonly wearing a under garment under the brace, then your normal clothing over the brace makes it more comfortable to wear over a period of several weeks while your rib pain heals.
