Hi, my name is Dave and I have insomnia. My insomnia started when I was in high school. I don’t know why it started. Over the years my insomnia just got worse and worse. Sure I got to watch a lot of David Letterman, but back then I just wanted to go to sleep.
At first it was very mild. I wasn’t able to fall asleep before 1 am. Slowly that time got pushed back to 2 am, then 3 am then finally not at all. Like the time it started out as one night a week, then two nights, and so on. It wasn’t uncommon to be awake for six days straight.
I was real frustrated for a long time about my insomnia. I didn’t want to talk to anybody about it. Not mt parents, not my friends, nobody. For the first two years I felt terribly alone and isolated. I rarely talked to anyone, I hardly came out of my bedroom. My parents thought it was just normal teenage behavior and I would grow out of it.
Then one day I noticed something unusual. The nights that I didn’t sleep I wasn’t tired the next day. the nights that I did sleep I was more tired than usual. I was also more productive when I didn’t sleep. I thought that was strange. It was almost like not sleeping was better for me. As I thought about it more and more I accepted the fact that this was normal to my life and nothing was going to change that. I decided to embrace my insomnia with a positive attitude. Now I could play more video games, read more books, watch more movies.
When I started telling people about my insomnia they were a little shocked and unsure of what to say. I got the usual people telling me how to cure my insomnia. I got ideas from everything that made sense like drink warm milk mixed with honey to the more weird ideas like get a glass of warm water and fill with moth balls. Supposedly the vapors would lull you to sleep. Nothing has worked for me.
It has been 15+ years of living with insomnia. This past year it has actually gotten better. About a year ago I discovered Acai Juice. When I first drank it I slept all night long. I still don’t sleep on the weekends at all, but I do sleep more during the week. I don’t know if my sleeping has to do with the Acai Juice. I don’t drink it as much now ( it has gotten a little expensive), but I am sleeping better.
I don’t know if the juice had anything to do with me sleeping more or not, or if my sleeping will continue. However, for now I will just be happy that I am sleeping.
Disclaimer: I am not a doctor. If the Acai Juice helped me sleep it was probably a fluke. Just because it worked for me doesn’t mean it will work for you.
