Radial Nerve Compression occurs when the radial nerve that runs down the arm is pinched due to direct trauma, prolonged pressure, or compression from a body structure. The radial nerve is in charge of helping the body move the triceps and upper arm, so when this nerve is pinched an overall feeling of pain, weakness, and numbness occurs. Patients may even experience difficulty extending the wrist or elbow.
In order to help maximize the movement of the elbow and hand, the use of braces, splints, and other orthopedic products are greatly encouraged. If symptoms of radial nerve compression become more severe and the arm doesn′t respond to treatment, please contact a physician for immediate assistance.
