A Hernia occurs when the abdominal muscle experiences a weakness or opening, causing built-up tissue to appear as a bulge on either side of the abdomen. This unwanted pressure to the abdomen causes pain, discomfort, and swelling. Activity that increases pressure to the abdominal muscles can further aggravate the hernia with further strain (such as lifting and coughing).
There are 3 types of hernia injury: Hiatal Hernia, Umbilical Hernia, and the most common, Inguinal Hernia that affects the groin. The groin area is most susceptible to hernia injury because of the lack of muscle coverage, and our normal upright posture that causes unwanted stress on the lower abdomen.
Hernia injuries can be treated with belts and supports that use compression to push the hernia back into the abdomen. Choose from our selection of hernia products to see which method of home treatment works best for you. For more serious hernia conditions, please consult with a physician.
